WiCyS
CEDAR's newest student group
WiCyS has arrived! The University of Wyoming Women in Cybersecurity Chapter (WiCyS) is a new club on campus dedicated to increasing diversity within cybersecurity. We aim to provide cybersecurity education content that is engaging and accessible. Each meeting includes a hands-on mini workshop that increases cyber prowess and refines multi-disciplinary skills.
DATDA
CEDAR RSO — Defense Against the Dark Arts
Defense Against the Dark Arts (DATDA) is an RSO focused on learning cybersecurity individual member projects and presentations. Topics usually discussed in the club include digital privacy, wifi encryption methods and activities, and various other networking concepts. Members also participate in online competitions to test and add new skills to their repertoire.
Competitions
Each year, competitors rank in the top 10% of the nation.
- 7 National Cyber League Tournaments
- 2 years of MITRE's eCTF
- 4 years of DoE's CyberForce
- Various other competitions focused on networking, medical technology, and other capture the flag style events
Volunteer/Outreach
- GenCyber: Professional dev (PD) for teachers and students
- WySTACK: Paid guided research for high school teachers
- WySLICE: PD for elementary teachers and librarians
- Code.org: Various PDs for K-12 teachers
- TACoS: Summer camp for elementary students and teachers
- Clockwise: Software bootcamp for WY college students
- Kraken: Computer science camp (details coming soon)
Partnerships
The CEDAR lab works with a variety of partners including INL, DoE, DoD, DHS, NSA, NSF, Code.org, TEALs, and many others to provide funding, research support, teaching opportunities, and paid internships that benefits our students and the students, teachers, and industry professionals they work with.
